We all know that the tag is not the end all, be all of a car. I work at Chrysler and have had the privilege of working with some of the people that made our cars. Case in point, quite common for a car to come down the line and get one fender for mounted turn sigs, and one not. Guess what, it was your lucky day, you got fender mount turn sigs that were not on the sheet cause it wasnt worth changing that fender! The dress out of the car came after paint and the decision came from what color fender, and option was in the extras rack. Very common with radios, congrats! you got a free 8-track player! But not on the sheet! My friend, who was a supervisor then, said it was just easier to ship it than fix it. This applied to axles ratios too. Engines were usually right. They ran it fast and loose back in the day, and since I believe they ran the 4-door satellites on the same line, [which were usually taxis and cop cars], no one really gave a shit. who else would you buy from then? The Japs? HaHa. This was the mindset then.
