FIRST! I have a 750 Speed demon on an RPM intake on a 383 with a purple cam and auto trans. Having a hard time keeping it running at anything under 1500 rpm. Anyone with some tuning tricks that can help me? It has the e-z idle feature, but has little effect. Heard about drilling holes in the butterflies...option? Knob-dicked with the carb for days. Now it is back in delivered form, 1.5 turns out on the mixtures and 1.5 turns out on the e-z idle, the butterflies are set to spec for the idle transfer slot. Where should I go from here? Thanks for any help you can give.

I'm with George...well not actually "with George" ... He's not my type.... But I digress... I'll bet its some other problem like a vacuum leak or an ignition problem.

Checked and double checked on the vacuum leaks. When I can get it to idle, I have about 7" of vac. I decided to so some homework before wasting more time tuning. Did a compression test today. All cyls were 130psi, 140psi with some oil squirts. Looks kinda low. I need to sit back and do some thinkin-drinkin. Next I will try a cyl leakdown test. Need to find out if the motor is even healthy, I dont want to waste any more of your guy's time till I get the basics done. Stay 'tooned and thanks.
