Had my tranny rebuilt approx. 5 years ago, sat in my garage until recently when I installed it into my RR. I have driven the car about 300 miles so far this summer. When under acceleration, not even hard acceleration, it shifts into third gear and the engine will wind out and slowly come back down in rpm when the tranny finally grabs. Tranny oil and filter are clean and do not smell burnt. I have also adjusted my kickdown linkage as well. Nothing seems to help. The tranny has done this since day one and only does it in when shifting into top gear. Any thoughts or easy fixes?

The bands aren't being used when the trans is in third gear, so don't bother with them. There's a lot of things that could be wrong. If its a valve body problem you might be able to repair the problem with the trans in the car but if its something more serious like the front clutch, then the trans has to come out.
You can start by doing a line pressure check... get yourself a service manual or better yet, the HP book on the 727 and have at it.

Ditto the line pressure check-any trans shop should also be able to do it and it should help diagnos the problem.
